Liu Lianbo, calligraphy teacher, inscribed the fan. The poem by Tang Dynasty writer Li Bai (701-762) called “Leaving Baidi City by Dawn,” describes traveling down the Yangtze River.
From the walls of Baidi, high in dawn’s cloud-colors,
To Jiangling by night-fall is three hundred miles.
Yet monkeys still call on both banks behind me
My boat already ten thousand mountains away.
